hi, i have windows 7 64bit and there is no such option on the mixer or the sound properties… i can record sound normally through my built-in microphone, but i want to record directly from my system but i cant find the option anywhere.

Hi Nicolas,

The same should apply to win7 64 bit. Have you tried if you can record sound outside Snagit, just using your regular Windows Sound Recorder? Start there.

Hi Dale,

As the problem is hardware related and not software related there is no software that will fix this. You should check and download the latest upgrade of your sound card drivers. That may fix it.

Hello,

What is the solution then? I have a laptop – no switching out sound cards in my future – so, how can I make this work? I need the ability of recording audio that is playing on my system. Any FREE programs out there that will enable this to work? I really don’t want to do the rigging option the first commenter said… Thanks

Hello F D,

The reason the mentioned methods don’t work is because your sound card can’t record “what you hear”. There are two problems with the method you mention, but unfortunately it’s the only method if you have that kind of sound card. The problems are that 1) you get worse quality of the recording and 2) you don’t hear anything while having the cable connected thus it can be hard to record some things.

Listen, non of those options mentioned before will work. It took me one hour to understand about the Snagit and here is the solution: Very simple, cheap and easy: Just get a stereo audio cable and connect one end to the Microphone (audio input)jack and the other one ie n the speaker (audio output) jack. This will simulate a microphone as the Input device and the Snagit will respond. Then go to the Control Panel, Audio, Recording and choose MIC for input..Record anything using Snagit, unplug the audio cable, play back and you will feel happy Thanks.
